About us

As early as 1990, heritage conservationists, volunteers, and activists campaigned for the preservation and restoration of the old industrial monuments and their accessibility. Over the years, a park landscape with unique buildings was created on the northern edge of the active open-cast mine, reflecting the municipality's long mining tradition.

In 2008, Kultur GmbH, with its two properties, the Rüdersdorf Museumspark and the 'Martin Andersen Nexö' Cultural Center, was founded as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin. Ten years later, since May 2018, both properties have been managed by Museums- und Kultur GmbH Rüdersdorf.
