Steinbruch Tour
Into the open-cast mine with an off-road vehicle
What has always made Rüdersdorf such a special little town in Brandenburg is a quirk of nature: around 800 years ago, a gentle limestone hill rose up out of the otherwise flat landscape in the sandy Berlin countryside. The stone was quarried and used as building stone. In the 16th century, Rüdersdorf was already producing quicklime – and from 1885 onwards, cement. The Rüdersdorf Museumspark is the only historical limestone quarry and mine in the world that has been preserved in such diversity.
Our quarry tour takes you along the edge of the active limestone quarry in an off-road vehicle. The tour offers many interesting and unique insights into the quarrying process, narrated in an exciting way by our tour guides. Experience the unique geology of Rüdersdorf.
Due to safety regulations, it is unfortunately not permitted to get out of the vehicle in the open-cast mine.
Children under the age of 6 are not permitted to ride in the open-cast mine.
Dogs are strictly prohibited in the off-road vehicles.
