History of the Museumspark

and tourism since the 19th century

Less well known today than the town's industrial history is the astonishingly long history of tourism and leisure activities around Rüdersdorf. Between the Kalksee and Heinitzsee (lakes), people once enjoyed more than just spa treatments and bathing: famous films were even filmed here and in the surrounding area. The Museumspark itself is the result of the initiative of numerous individuals and associations from Rüdersdorf and the surrounding area. Extensive restoration work was carried out on the historic furnaces and the rope pulley pillar in the early to late 1990s, until the park was finally opened in 1994.
